My Dragon Cat by Smirtouille My Dragon Cat by Smirtouille
That is a painting inspired of my norvegian cat. I really think he's a dragon sometimes, I wanted to express that feeling in here by exagerating the parts of his body I think have something to do with a mythical creature.

The style and color scheme was going arround 19th century war paintings and portraits while the pose, exageration and pattern in the background are inspired from ancient asian art.

Here is a picture of the model, awesome big, gentle, stupid and super gay Ungaro: [link]

"super gay Ungaro" made me laugh really hard, not sure why - just sounds right (that's an awesome name!). But other than that, it's very out of place to laugh at this painting, that looks like a nasty bite! Anyways, I definitely saw the asian dragon part in his wispy ears, and I like how they seem to be floating on their own. Magical :)

Do you know of the mythical Pukis (or Pukys or Puk)? That's a tiny dragon from Eastern Europe that disguises itself as a cat by day and lives as somebody's pet. Then at night it turns into a tiny, flying, fiery dragon that flits around really fast. It goes out and steals little trinkets from people and brings them back to its owner. It also protects treasures that belong to its owner.

Is it a maine coon?
Smirtouille Featured By Owner Jul 19, 2011  Professional Digital Artist
No it's Norwegian forest cat.
GRAYSCALED Featured By Owner Jul 20, 2011  Professional Traditional Artist
Thank you for replying. I was just wondering because I have a maine coon and they look kind of similar.
I googled it and Wiki says that they're similar. I was starting to feel silly.

The drawing is amazing - I, especially, like the tufts of fur in his ears and collar and the exagerrated teeth.
Smirtouille Featured By Owner Jul 20, 2011  Professional Digital Artist
Yes they are similar. : ) Norwegians are a bit smaller and more triangular, a little more elegant than the Coons, and the Coons are more massive with a big chin. They're all beautiful and friendly animals.

Sorry for the delay, I had much to do.
I hope to satisfy your desire. I commend your work, where I see great strength and high potential
graphic artists.

Now step to the symbolic description of my work. A summary, which will only
point out a speech on the symbols and its symbolic opposites. This search for a balance of
forms, a spiritual balance and conceptual framework for a vital and astral forces.

The painting measures 43.307 "x 59.055"

The image is generally represented in an imaginary place where nature is immersed in its beauty at night.

It is reflected in a large antique mirror that collects the intricate and peaceful network
mysteries waving in the air. Invisible waves arriving from the distant past in infinite space, accompanied by visible inaudible echoes. Vibrations that connect to our eternal spirit.

The mirror becomes the wall of a silent world, which turns the material images in three-dimensional pictures as well apparently. Points of light and reflections
conjugated in all directions. The great power of the mirror is above that of
show ourselves to ourselves, we can observe a point outside of ourselves.

The inverted pentagram, meets with his summit with our X Kether, vertically, and reverses the mirror to our image in the horizontal X (left-right).

The crown of thorns gold crowns his head horizontally and represents the ancient sacrifice of Christ.

The head is crowned by the round window vertically separating natural light and artificial light from the outside environment divine-dramatic iconography.

The eyes look in the mirror yourself. They look through three eyes or three fires, setting the three phases of the time and the three-way distances, and all six reflected beams are opposed in twelve beams and four spaces,
on this side and beyond the mirror.

The armor covers and protects the soul, the heart and the inner world that needs to meet with us in solitude
On it there is a triple representation of the eighth astrological sign (eagle-snake-scorpion). The number 8 in horizontal infinity symbol allows the meeting of the infinite space in opposite directions.

The dagger, symbol of the analysis is speculative in the right hand (left)
The flower in his left hand (right)

On the right of the subject a great living flower, and a large shell, as fruits of the generosity
sea and land.

On the left (right) fire and leaves to represent time and instinct.

The right leg (left) placed on the ground receives energy from the ground while the left (right) forward
towards life, towards the river flowing.

Still on the right (left) a light beam that converges at the center of the eye passes together and the
two balls, two leaves and fire.
Between the two leaves the living material meets the mirror and the beam of light is constant in its direction,
since it is one of the many perspective lines made visible by the light. Indeed piercing through the two dimensions together in the same direction. By combining the two spheres, the two worlds separate and different.

I stop here: The rest is form and color.

Thanks again for your interest and best wishes for the noble work that we want to play.
